On evening of Dec 30th, the weather was pretty cold and snowy, but we stiill decided to go over to the Wachovia Center to see the Scranton Penguin Hockey team play the Binghamton Hockey team. Scranton won 6 to 2 so we saw a lot of scoring y
When we got home, we fixed some popcorn and decided to play scrabble. It was Jeri, Mike and I. We all started with some very good word counts so the game was getting pretty competitive. As anyone that plays scrabble rountinely knows, there are two blanks that can be utilized. Well about three quarters through the game, a third blank showed up which created some confusion. One of the players had played a word with a y at the end and used a blank for the y. Well as we started to investigate the blank, we flipped over the blanks and one of the blanks had a w on the opposite side. I won't say who the player was, but Mike and I began to laugh uncontrollably at the strategy because what this player was planning to do is to switch the blank for a y when they got a y. Now this would never occur to me to be a viable strategy, but you learn something new every day. By the way, Mike won, Jeri came in second and Marshall was third. The good news is we had a great laugh and now we have another story to tell and a memory to hold on to.
